Our Story

Like any good startup, O2O was born out of struggle and necessity.

01

A Pandemic

The pandemic had hit, lockdowns were in place, and it was extremely challenging for cannabis brands to get product information and marketing material into the hands of retailers who needed it. In this struggle, we saw an opportunity to help.

02

The Launch

O2O launched in early 2020 as a way for brand sales reps to more easily ship marketing material to retailers instead of delivering them personally. Reps would log into O2O, order physical assets and choose which store(s) they should be sent to. We would pack and ship that order from our warehouse to the retailer on behalf of the brand. In a pandemic world, this worked very well and we grew quite quickly.

03

Inviting Retailers to the Party

As more and more brands started to use O2O, we thought it would be useful to empower retailers to choose the marketing assets they actually wanted to have in store (instead of always just getting whatever the brands sent them), so we built this. Retailers came to love the control it gave them to order assets from a variety of brands in one place and have those assets sent in one box. Brands loved the ability to get in front of more stores without increasing their headcount.

04

Physical + Digital

O2O was built with physical assets in mind, but soon retailers were asking if we could list digital assets too. Brands had until then been sharing digital files to retailers via email or Dropbox and noted how inefficient it was. So we incorporated digital asset downloads into O2O. Brands could now upload all their digital assets and actually see which ones were being downloaded and by who. Retailers greatly valued having one place to access and download digital assets rather than digging through emails for files or Dropbox links.

05

2022 and beyond!

O2O has come a long way in two short years - but the struggle is not over. Now - perhaps even more than during the pandemic - cannabis brands and retailers are facing hard times. Saturation, layoffs, and other cost-cutting measures have left companies operating on shoestring budgets and trying to stretch every last dollar.

And once again, O2O is here to help

Brands are increasingly turning to O2O as an extension of their sales and marketing teams. To support them, we've built new features into O2O that help streamline communication and sharing of information with retailers, as well as new marketing opportunities.

We've also increased our offerings to include O2O Tastemakers and O2O Creations. The former assists brands with market research and product launches, while the latter offers brands a suite of tailored creative, design, and marketing services.

Now more than ever, O2O has become a trusted connection between cannabis brands and retailers. And we're just getting started.
