In 2022, The Green Organic Dutchman (TGOD) grew and donated 12,356 lbs. of organic produce for the local Hamilton, Ontario community. And just so we’re clear, we’re not talking about cannabis. At TGOD, we’re proud to have a community farm at our grow site in Ancaster, Ontario. Since 2018, our community farm has donated over 61,000 lbs. of organic fruits and vegetables to local families throughout the greater Hamilton area. Through Neighbour to Neighbour, and combined with non-perishable food drives in the off-season, our organically grown produce has helped support over 1,200 families (3,500 individuals) per month, with approximately 5 - 7 days of essential food.
GETTING THE CANNABIS COMMUNITY INVOLVED
Budtenders are at the heart of any local cannabis community, and they know the importance of supporting it. In the summer of 2022, we asked budtenders for pledges, and planted about a dozen seeds for every pledge.

GROWN USING THE SAME ORGANIC LIVING SOIL FROM OUR GREENHOUSE
Our community farm uses the same all-organic living soil we use to grow our certified organic cannabis. Our living soil is teeming with life; from beneficial microbes and enzymes to natural nutrients and fertilizers, and nothing artificial. With ingredients sourced from across Canada, like crab shells, willow bark, glacial rock dust, and even organic maple syrup from northern Quebec, our living soil is special and unique to TGOD.We feed the soil to feed the plants, creating a symbiotic relationship between them, nourished by the sun and rainwater. Creating an environment that makes nutrients bioavailable and easy to access, without harmful chemicals, allows our cannabis plants – and our organic fruits and vegetables – to thrive.

The Green Organic Dutchman is a proud partner of Neighbour to Neighbour in Hamilton, Ontario. Neighbour to Neighbour works to improve quality of life for people in their community by offering access to tutoring programs for children, community kitchen programs, utility subsidy programs, family counselling, emergency food access, and a host of other interventions. Neighbour to Neighbour empowers people with tools and ideas that help change lives.
